1 dead following crash on W State St in downtown Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, FL – A man in his 60s died after a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning, July 12, in Jacksonville’s LaVilla neighborhood, according to News4Jax.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the incident took place at the intersection of West State Street and North Jefferson Street.
Preliminary details show a woman in her mid-20s was operating a vehicle westbound on West State Street at the same time the man was driving southbound on North Jefferson Street. Officials indicated that the vehicles collided after entering the controlled intersection, injuring both drivers.
The drivers were both transported to area hospitals, but police said the man was pronounced deceased shortly after. At the time of the News4Jax report, the woman was listed in stable condition.
It’s unclear at this time whether speed or impairment played a role in the wreck, but an investigation was in progress.
