1 hurt, 1 life claimed in 3-vehicle collision in Kissimmee

KISSIMMEE, FL – A 62-year-old man sustained minor injuries, and a 25-year-old man passed away in a three-vehicle collision Tuesday, Click Orlando said. 

The events unfolded around 6:30 a.m. when the 25-year-old man, driving a 2016 Hyundai Veloster, declined to slow down and struck the back of a 2024 Mazda CX-30 on northbound John Young Parkway along Ball Park Road. 

After the 25-year-old man rear-ended the Mazda, driven by a 17-year-old girl from Kissimmee, the impact led him to lose control of his car and collide with a traveling 2020 Ford F-250. The pickup truck, driven by a 62-year-old man from Orlando, then struck the right side of the Hyundai. 

Florida Highway Patrol said the teenage girl was unharmed, while the 62-year-old man and 25-year-old man were both taken to a hospital. There, the 25-year-old man succumbed to fatal wounds, and the 62-year-old man was set to be treated for his minor lacerations. 

Troopers closed all southbound lanes and one inside northbound lane for several hours before reopening all directions before 11 a.m. 

FHP also added that the 17-year-old girl did slow down for traffic prior to her car getting rear-ended. They started an investigation and have not provided additional details at this time.
