1 killed, 2 injured in semi vs pedestrian crash outside Tampa club
TAMPA, FL – A 25-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly driving a semi-truck into a group of pedestrians early Tuesday in Tampa, leaving one person dead and two people seriously hurt, reports Tampa.gov.
The incident occurred in the parking lot of Emperors Gentlemen’s Club, on 5718 East Adamo Drive, at around 4:19 a.m. on August 13.
A preliminary investigation found that the suspect had been asked to leave the club due to inappropriate behavior. However, he later returned behind the wheel of a semi, which he used to drive into a group of six people standing near the club entrance.
One of the pedestrians, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other men were rushed to an area hospital for major injuries, but have been released at the time of Tampa.gov’s report on August 15.
The suspect, who had also been taken to a hospital for injuries, was found to have an blood alcohol content above the legal limit of 0.08, indicating that he was impaired during the crash. Following medical clearance, he was booked into Orient Road Jail. He faces multiple charges.
