1 killed in Lee Co. dump truck crash with poles
LEE COUNTY, FL – One person’s life was claimed in a garbage truck crash involving utility poles that took place along Telegraph Creek around 1 a.m. Friday.
For reasons unclear, the driver lost control of the truck and collided with power poles at the North River Road and Elwood Drive intersection, NBC-2 reported. The impact of the collision caused a power pole to come tumbling down into a ditch and land on top of the truck.
It appears the driver was taken to a hospital for unspecified injuries, and a dog was also involved in the collision. It is unclear if it was the truck driver who died or if it was another occupant and if the dog was hurt and needed to be taken to a veterinarian.
More details will be posted upon confirmation.
