2 hurt, 93-year-old man dead after crash near Wimauma
WIMAUMA, FL – One life was claimed, and two people were injured after a crash near Wimauma Saturday.
The two-vehicle collision happened at the intersection of U.S. 301 and Bill Tucker Road, the Tampa Bay Times reported.
The driver of a pickup truck, a 93-year-old man, was traveling on the southbound lanes of the highway when he made a left turn and collided with a sedan.
The impact of the collision caused the pickup truck to roll over several times, and shortly, “both vehicles came to rest on the east shoulder of the roadway.”
The driver of the sedan, a 17-year-old boy from Brandon, was not wearing his seatbelt. He was seriously injured, and the passenger with him – a 19-year-old adult – sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The 93-year-old man succumbed to his injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
