2 injured, 2 lives claimed in Immokalee big rig, SUV accident
IMMOKALEE, FL – A 4-year-old girl and a tractor-trailer driver were injured, and two women lost their lives after an SUV driver ran a stop sign and hit a big rig Wednesday.
This collision happened around midnight at the SR-29 and Oil Well Road junction. NBC-2 said that when both vehicles collided, they overturned and eventually came to rest in a grassy median.
The SUV may have sustained some damage to its passenger door. The impact also led to a fuel spillage.
The SUV driver, a 52-year-old Orlando woman, and the adult passenger with her, a 26-year-old woman, succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene.
First responders took the girl to a hospital, where she is listed in critical condition.
Florida Highway Patrol said the big rig motorist suffered minor wounds but did not specify if they were taken to a hospital. They started an investigation and have not shared additional details at this time.
