2 killed, 3 seriously hurt in crash at west Orlando intersection
ORLANDO, FL – Two people lost their life due to a collision early Saturday, July 13, in west Orlando that left three others injured, reports ClickOrlando.
The collision took place at the corner of State Road 50 (West Colonial Drive) and North Pine Hills Road at about 5:39 a.m.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a 2012 Chrysler 200 was heading southbound on Pine Hills Road when its front-end hit the left side of a 2016 Honda CRV traveling eastbound on Colonial Drive. At the time of the ClickOrlando report, investigators were working to determine the color of the traffic signals during the incident.
The driver of the Chrysler, a 22-year-old man from Zellwood, and one of his passengers were transported to area hospitals where they later succumbed to their injuries, confirmed officials. A third occupant in the Chrysler, a 33-year-old man from Apopka, was also transported to a hospital in critical condition.
Both occupants of the Honda, a 43-year-old male driver and his passenger, a 39-year-old woman from Orlando, were hospitalized for major injuries.
An investigation remains in progress.
