2 taken into custody following hit-and-run crash at North Fort Myers residence
LEE COUNTY, FL – Two 24-year-olds were arrested Saturday morning after fleeing the scene of a crash at a home in North Fort Meyers, according to WINK.
The incident took place at a home along Williamsburg Drive, off Interstate 75 near mile marker 143. It was first reported at about 9:00 a.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol said two Cape Coral residents, both 24, were traveling in a vehicle heading southbound in the right lane of I-75. At one point, the vehicle veered off the roadway, slammed into a fence, and then proceeded into the wall of a bedroom in the residence.
While at least one person was home at the time, no injuries were reported.
The vehicle’s occupants, who both fled the scene on foot, were later located and arrested. Officials said the driver was taken into custody and faces charges of “driving on a suspended license and drug possession.” The other occupant was arrested after officers learned they had an “active felony warrant.”
An investigation remains in progress.
