2 taken to hospital after FL’s Turnpike crash in Miami
MIAMI, FL – Two people were sent to the hospital in a collision that took place on the southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike around 9:15 a.m. Thursday.
The exact details of the collision were not revealed. However, as indicated in a Local 10 report, the impact of the crash led a mini trailer to roll over on its side, resulted in pieces from a black SUV to scatter on the floor, and a wrecked car (that appeared to have separated) to land on its roof.
One person was either pinned or entrapped inside a vehicle and required extrication. It is unclear if this pinned person was sent to a hospital.
The two occupants who were hospitalized were transported to two separate hospitals. One person was issued a trauma alert and taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, and another was sent to another medical facility.
Miami-Dade Police shut down four lanes on the Turnpike and allowed two lanes to remain open. There has been no official word on the scene clearing, nor have police revealed the exact conditions of the injured parties.
Updates will be posted should they become available.
