3 adults, 3 children hospitalized after bus, trash truck in Hialeah
HIALEAH, FL – A trash truck and a school bus crashed into a residential fence after both vehicles collided, sending three children and three truck occupants to a hospital Tuesday.
This collision occurred around 2 p.m. at the East 1st Avenue and East 60th Street intersection, according to Local10. After the vehicles made contact, two of the truck occupants were thrown from their vehicle, while one truck passenger was either pinned or entrapped and had to be extricated.
The truck passengers were flown by a medical helicopter to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, while an ambulance took three children to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital as a precaution.
Hialeah Fire Rescue said 15 children on the bus and the bus driver all sustained minor injuries as well.
The bus is associated with F. Couceiro School Bus Inc., a Hialeah organization run by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Officials have not disclosed the events leading to this crash or said who was at fault.
