3 hurt, 43-year-old man killed in Jacksonville wrong-way crash
JACKSONVILLE, FL – A wrong-way crash on State Road 23 left three injured, and claimed a 43-year-old man’s life after 7 p.m. Monday, Action News Jax reported.
For reasons unclear, a driver of a sedan was traveling the wrong way by driving north on southbound SR 23. A pickup truck driver was driving south in the inside lane, and an SUV driver was going behind the pickup truck.
The pickup truck rotated sideways after colliding with the sedan. In addition, the SUV struck the truck’s driver’s side.
First responders said the pickup truck suffered critical, life-threatening injuries, while the SUV driver was seriously hurt. The SUV passenger sustained minor injuries, and the sedan driver was killed at the scene.
Florida Highway Patrol has only identified the sedan driver as a 43-year-old man from Rockledge, Florida. They are investigating this collision and have not released additional details at this time.
