2 dead, 4 hurt in pickup truck vs. SUV crash in Mulberry
MULBERRY, FL – Four were hurt, and two lives were claimed in a collision along SR-60 Tuesday, WFLA reported.
The crash happened before 5:45 a.m. A driver of a westbound SUV was turning when the person entered the path of a pickup truck. As a result, both vehicles collided. Among seven of the SUV occupants, four were thrown from the vehicle. Two came to rest in a wooded area, and two landed on the road.
Five people were transported to Lakeland Regional Health Hospital, where one person died.
The driver of a pickup truck – an 18-year-old female high school student – and another person was flown by helicopter to Tampa General Hospital. Both were seriously injured.
Officials are working to determine who was behind the wheel of the SUV.
