1 hurt, 1 killed in rear-end crash with scooter, box truck
HOMESTEAD, FL – A scooter passenger was killed, and the scooter operator was hurt after a driver of a white box truck struck the back of the scooter Tuesday.
This collision occurred before 4:45 a.m. on northbound U.S. 1 along Southwest 137th Avenue. Local 10 said that the scooter occupants stopped at a red light when the driver struck the rear of the scooter.
The scooter passenger was thrown and suffered fatal injuries. The victim, who has only been identified as a Hispanic man, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The scooter operator was treated at the crash site for non-life-threatening injuries, while the truck driver was unharmed.
