Girl, 7, dies following Winter Haven rear-end crash
WINTER HAVEN, FL – A rear-end collision on Cypress Gardens Road claimed the life of a 7-year-old girl around 7 a.m. Wednesday.
According to ABC Action News, the driver of an orange 2006 Chevy Cobalt – 18-year-old Alexis Stifle – turned left from southbound Cypress Gardens Road. The driver of a red 2010 Chevy Silverado traveling behind the Cobalt, thought Stifle was turning right instead of left. So the Silverado driver – 44-year-old Stephen Fraizer – started to overtake Stifle on the left. As a result, the Cobalt hit the passenger rear of the Silverado.
The Silverado truck rotated, and the passenger with Fraizer – a 7-year-old girl – was sent to the hospital with severe head trauma where she later died after 8:30 a.m.
Both drivers were unharmed.
Due to the girl’s status as a minor, our newsroom does not plan to list her name in this article.
Updates will be posted as they become available.
