3-vehicle wreck in Lakeland claims 3 lives
LAKELAND, FL – A 19-year-old boy and two 16-year-olds – a boy and a girl – all lost their lives to a three-vehicle wreck that happened on U.S. Highway 98.
This crash occurred along the North Towne Square Shopping Center around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday., as indicated in a report from WFLA.
Lakeland Police said they suspect that the 16-year-old girl was traveling at a high rate in her 2012 Nissan Versa when she struck a 2006 Lincoln Mark LT truck as that motorist made a turn into the shopping center. The impact then led the driver of the Lincoln truck to collide with the Toyota Corolla as the motorist was leaving the plaza.
The Toyota Corolla and Lincoln truck drivers sustained minor injuries, while the 19-year-old and 16-year-old boy – passengers from the Nissan – succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The 16-year-old girl was either pinned or entrapped inside the car and was extricated. Medics rushed her to a hospital, where she later died.
Lakeland Police are investigating the details of this fatal wreck and have not released other information at this time.
