Hit-and-run driver purposely strikes Miami Police officer
MIAMI, FL – A Miami Police officer was hospitalized when she was intentionally hit by a man who drove a car that didn’t belong to him and then fled the scene.
This happened in the area of NW First Court and NW 13th Street Monday, WSVN said. The suspect, who was identified as 49-year-old Andrewin Wardel, went inside a red Nissan and purposely struck Officer Marvalyn Lee Chin. As a result, she was pinned against the car.
Wardel took off towards 12th Street, but it wasn’t long before he was found and arrested. He is charged with “robbery, carjacking, attempted felony murder, battery on law enforcement, leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injuries, fleeing and eluding police and leaving the scene of a crash.”
As for Lee Chin she was sent to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment, where she remains in serious condition.
