Teacher hospitalized after her car crashes into Lehigh Acres canal
LEHIGH ACRES, FL – A woman battling cancer, a teacher at Sunshine Elementary School, was sent to a hospital after she crashed her car into a canal Friday.
NBC-2 said that the schoolteacher got out of her vehicle and attempted to pull her car out with the intent of not immersing herself in the water. The woman also had help from good samaritans — a nurse from the elementary school and two men — who did what they could to ensure she would be okay.
Upon arrival, first responders rushed the woman to a hospital. Officials did not specify her condition, only stating she was sent there as a precaution and for an evaluation of injuries.
