Driver fatally rear-ends teen cyclist in Hudson
HUDSON, FL – A 15-year-old boy riding a bicycle was struck from behind by a Dodge Charger driver on Kitten Trail Thursday, leading him to suffer fatal wounds.
This collision happened after 6:30 a.m. near Thompson Avenue. Florida Highway Patrol told Bay News 9 that the Dodge Charger motorist — a 31-year-old man from Hudson — was driving in the dark and did not see the teenager when he hit his back tire. Troopers made no mention of citations or pending charges.
Officials said the teenager did not wear a helmet and was rushed to a hospital, where he later died.
The teenage boy has been identified as a Hudson Academy student. Authorities have released his name. However, due to his status as a minor, our newsroom will not mention his name in this article.
