Cyclist, 33, fatally struck by driver in Sarasota
SARASOTA, FL – A 33-year-old adult riding a bicycle died after they were struck by a vehicle, and an unidentified pedestrian was injured when they were hit with debris from the crash Tuesday.
This collision happened before 9 p.m. on 14th Street West, according to ABC Action News. The driver was going north on 14th Street and went over a curb before going into the southbound lanes. There the motorist hit the pedestrian and then collided with a utility pole.
The debris from this initial collision then struck another pedestrian, who was hospitalized for minor wounds. The cyclist was declared dead at the scene.
An investigation was launched. No other details are available at this time.
