Hit-and-run driver causes Jacksonville crash that kills 6-year-old girl
JACKSONVILLE, FL – The driver of a light-colored sedan is being sought after fleeing the scene of a crash with an SUV, which was forced to strike a pole, claiming the life of a 6-year-old girl.
This collision happened around 11 p.m. Saturday in the 6800 block of Merrill Road, according to FirstCoast News. Preliminary report indicates that the suspect changed lanes, going into the path of the SUV, causing the two vehicles to collide and the driver of the SUV to strike a wooden telephone pole.
A 6-year-old child from the SUV was thrown from the vehicle and succumbed to fatal wounds at the scene. First responders rushed the other child from the car and the driver to an area hospital.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the suspect’s vehicle has possible damage to the side doors. They launched an investigation and have yet to find them.
