Vehicle slams into building on Pine Island
PINE ISLAND, FL – A motorist was fortunate to escape injuries after she crashed her SUV into a building in Pine Island yesterday, NBC 2 reports.
The incident took place at what appears to be a restaurant located at Pine Island Road and Stringfellow Road. According to a witness, the driver was an elderly Canadian woman who inadvertently hit the gas rather than the brakes, causing her vehicle to slam into the storefront. The force of the impact caused significant damage to both the SUV and the building’s facade.
Accounts differ as to whether the woman crawled through the trunk of the SUV to free herself or had to be extricated by emergency responders. Regardless of the means of her egress, it appears she was unhurt.
