Car hits tree, rams into Port Charlotte home
PORT CHARLOTTE, FL – A red car flipped over on a curb, struck a tree, and then overturned before ramming into a home on Harborview Road Sunday, NBC-2 said.
This incident took place in the morning, and the impact sent the vehicle into the home’s utility room, according to the homeowners, identified as Stephanie Lawrence and Tracy Hoffman.
While the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office has not confirmed what led the male driver to ultimately crash into a home, beer cans from the striking vehicle were found scattered in front of the home, suggesting that intoxication may have been a possible contributing factor. According to Lawrence and Hoffman, the man, who appeared impaired, came out of his car and requested a cigarette, unaware of the fact that he just rammed into the home.
It is not immediately clear if anyone was injured and if the unidentified driver will be charged with DUI. Updates will be provided when they become available.
