2 hospitalized, 1 killed after crane rams into Fort Lauderdale bridge
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – A piece of a crane came tumbling down on a bridge, striking a black minivan and crane debris to hit a Tesla, injuring two people and claiming one life.
This collision happened around 4:30 p.m. Thursday on Southeast Third Avenue, according to WSVN. The two injured occupants, a man and woman from the minivan, were taken to Broward Health Medical Center.
One of the victims sustained serious injuries, and one is listed in stable condition, while the Tesla driver, Mark Cerezin was unharmed. One of the male construction workers died after a crane hit him.
According to officials, part of the crane came down when the crane operator tried to align the top portion with another, leading one piece to crash.
At the time of reporting, officials were trying to move the crane from the minivan. Since then, the crane has been secured.
