3 killed in fiery motorcycle vs. vehicle crash near New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport
VOLUSIA COUNTY, FL – Three people lost their lives as a result of a fiery collision Wednesday night on U.S. Route 1 in New Smyrna Beach, according to ClickOrlando.
The triple-fatal accident happened at the intersection with Skyline Drive, in front of New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport, at about 8:30 p.m.
While local police have not said what led up to the crash, a motorcycle and another vehicle were involved, and the impact caused that other vehicle to catch fire.
First responders pronounced three people deceased at the scene. Two of the victims, aged 42 and 45, are said to have been the parents of four children. The third victim was identified as a 27-year-old.
A span of US-1 was shut down for the emergency response and investigation, but all lanes were reopened by about 2:00 a.m. the following morning.
