Right-turn crash with box truck claims pedestrian’s life in Lakeland
LAKELAND, FL – A pedestrian succumbed to fatal wounds after he was struck by the driver of a box truck turning right from Main Street to Combee Road Thursday.
This collision happened before 3:45 a.m., according to FOX 13 News. Upon arrival, first responders took the pedestrian to a hospital, where he later passed away.
The driver stayed at the scene and was unharmed. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said they closed the intersection for approximately three hours before reopening the area.
Deputies said they do not suspect the driver will face charges.
At this time, authorities have not released the victim’s name or released other information.
