Motorcyclist killed, another critically hurt in Jacksonville crash involving box truck
JACKSONVILLE, FL – A box truck driver turning from Phillips Highway South onto Lenoir Avenue collided with two motorcyclists on Thursday, August 8, leading one to their death and leaving the other seriously injured.
The crash happened before 10:30 p.m., News 4 Jax reported. According to Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcyclists, both men from Orange Park, were traveling northbound in the right lane of the highway just before Lenoir Avenue when they crashed into the right side of the truck, which had entered their direct path.
Troopers said one motorcyclist, a 23-year-old man, was hospitalized for life-threatening wounds. The other motorcyclist, a 29-year-old man, died at the scene.
FHP said the two victims wore helmets. The truck driver, a 64-year-old Lake Mary man who was unharmed, wore a seatbelt.
