Woman dead, boy hospitalized after left-turn crash in St. Pete
ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A woman passed away while her 9-year-old grandson was hospitalized after she crashed her car into a tow truck while turning left Tuesday.
ABC Action News said this collision happened when the woman, later identified as Shakesha Desence, had struck the tow truck with her Honda CR-V going from 20th Street to the 1900th block of 5th Avenue. St. Petersburg Police said the driver was going west when this wreck happened.
Officers said Desence perished at the collision site, while her grandson is recovering at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital from serious and critical-life-threatening wounds.
The tow truck driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
