Hit-and-run in Lehigh Acres claims life of male motorcyclist
LEHIGH ACRES, FL – A 26-year-old man operating a motorcycle died when he was struck by an SUV and then a suspected white Dodge Ram work truck who fled the scene Tuesday.
NBC-2 said the events unfolded after 5:30 p.m. when the hit-and-run motorist, who Florida Highway Patrol suspects is a Hispanic man, had struck the motorcyclist on westbound Lee Boulevard. The impact of this wreck had pushed the motorcyclist into the eastbound lanes of Lee and into the SUV.
FHP said the motorcyclist, a Leigh Acres local, perished at the collision site.
Preliminary details show that the hit-and-run suspect was coming from a parking lot east of Hanna Avenue North before making his way into Lee Boulevard.
The SUV driver, a 39-year-old woman, remained at the scene.
FHP launched an investigation and is actively working to find out the suspect’s whereabouts.
