Airboats collide in Ochopee., sending 16 to hospital
OCHOPEE, FL – Two airboats crashed south of U.S. 41 East, which injured several boat occupants and sent 16 people in total to local hospitals Friday.
This collision took place around 3 p.m. between mile markers 74 and 75, WINK News said.
Collier County Sheriff’s Office, fire crews, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) all responded to the scene.
FWC, who is taking the lead on this investigation, said there were 13 people on one boat and 20 on the other. They have not stated those occupants’ current physical conditions or released additional information at this time with respect to this crash.
