Alleged impaired driver steals, crashes ambulance in Tampa
TAMPA, FL – A man was suspected of being impaired when he stole an ambulance and then drove away, crashed into a Nissan Altima, and then crashed into a grassy area Friday.
CBS News said prior to the man stealing the ambulance; he had already been involved in a collision that happened on I-75 South leading to I-4 West. A driver of an ambulance rolled down his window and faced the suspect, inquiring about his well-being. The suspect then approached the ambulance and started a fight with the ambulance driver before driving off in the ambulance.
The ambulance driver called 911, and Hillsborough County deputies were quick to respond.
The suspect crashed into the Nissan Altima as he tried to flee the scene and was then pursued by the deputies. After he crashed into a grassy area, he fled the scene on foot.
