At least 1 hurt in Miami fiery semi rollover crash with several cars
MIAMI, FL – At least one person was hurt when a driver of a semi-truck crashed into several vehicles on Florida’s Turnpike extension, leading it to roll over and catch fire Thursday.
This multi-vehicle wreck happened around 8:30 a.m., WSVN reported. It is unclear what caused the tractor-trailer driver to lose control of their truck, but the impact also led them to collide with a median concrete barrier, resulting in skid marks and diesel fuel spilling on the road.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, Florida Highway Patrol, and a medical helicopter were all summoned to the scene.
Authorities had to close several northbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike to accommodate the cleaning of the fuel, the extinguishing of the flames, the investigation, and the landing of the medical helicopter. All lanes reopened.
Officials did not specify who was injured. However, they did confirm one person was flown by helicopter to a medical facility to undergo medical treatment for “bilateral broken arms,” injuries deemed “non-life-threatening.”
