Cape Coral rollover crash at intersection turns fatal
CAPE CORAL, FL – A life was claimed after a driver entered traffic and collided with another car, causing one vehicle to overturn Friday.
The collision took place after 6 a.m. at the intersection of Skyline Boulevard and SW 8th Terrace, NBC-2 reported.
Officials said that a driver of a 2013 Chrysler 300 stopped at a stop sign but then entered the direct path of a gray Nissan. As the Nissan driver came onto the intersection, the Nissan struck the front end of the Chrysler. As a result, both cars rotated clockwise.
The force of the collision caused the Nissan to flip over and hit a concrete pole. The driver, a 37-year-old woman, and a passenger were airlifted to a hospital. The passenger suffered life-threatening injuries, but it then progressed to non-life-threatening, while the driver sustained fatal injuries.
Cape Coral Police said speed did not contribute to Friday’s deadly wreck. Anyone with more insight into this collision may contact authorities listed at the phone number in the initial source.
Details are preliminary; updates will be issued as more information emerges.
