Car hydroplanes causing crash that claims 2 lives in Naples
NAPLES, FL – During heavy rain, a driver tried to stop for slowed traffic but couldn’t and hydroplaned, leading another motorist to hit that car, claiming two lives Wednesday.
NBC-2 said this collision happened around 11:35 a.m. on Immokalee Road near Platt Road. The car that hydroplaned had gone directly in front of the second car, leading the two to come into contact.
The passengers inside the hydroplaned vehicle, a 25-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, succumbed to fatal injuries.
First responders took the two drivers and the third passenger (from the second vehicle), a 27-year-old woman, to a hospital.
The 27-year-old woman was going to receive treatment for serious wounds, and the two drivers for non-life-threatening injuries.
Florida Highway Patrol started an investigation and has not released other information.
