Crash with tree in Sarasota claims one life, injures another
SARASOTA, FL – A 70-year-old female passenger was killed, and her driver, a 72-year-old woman, was left seriously injured when their vehicle crashed into a tree line Saturday.
WFLA said the events of this crash unfolded before 6:45 p.m. on I-75 when the driver approached standstill traffic and swerved to the left to avoid hitting any stopped cars. Authorities said the maneuver caused her to lose control of her vehicle, which then collided with the tree.
First responders declared the passenger deceased at the scene, and rushed the 72-year-old driver to a hospital.
Authorities have launched an investigation but have not yet provided additional commentary regarding this single-vehicle collision.
