Cyclist fatally struck by driver in Jacksonville’s Spring Park
JACKSONVILLE, FL – A male cyclist’s life was claimed when he was hit by a driver of a four-door sedan on the 4100 block of Emerson Street in the Spring Park district.
This fatal wreck occurred around 9 a.m., according to First Coast News. Officials said the cyclist had first traveled southbound, and at the same time, the driver of the sedan was going east.
The cyclist then went into the northbound lanes and attempted to cross the road. The woman then hit the cyclist, and he fell to the ground.
Medics rushed the cyclist to a hospital, where he succumbed to fatal injuries. The woman was unharmed, and officials confirmed that she was not under the influence of drugs/ alcohol at the time of the collision.
Officials are investigating if speed may have been a contributing factor in this fatal wreck and are examining all other details.
