Cyclist hit, killed by vehicle on E Bearss Ave near NE Tampa
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – Authorities responded to a crash Monday morning near northeast Tampa that claimed the life of a 65-year-old cyclist, according to News Channel 8.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) said the fatal incident unfolded at East Bearss Avenue and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard in University. Deputies responded to the area after receiving a call at about 7:26 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a woman was driving through the intersection on a green light when her vehicle struck the man, who was crossing the roadway on a bicycle.
The victim, who was found on the ground following the crash, died from his injuries at the scene.
An investigation remains open and ongoing. No pending charges or citations have been reported at this time.
