Driver, dog killed in Fort Myers wrong-way crash
FORT MYERS, FL – A possible medical episode could have been the reason why an SUV driver traveled the wrong way and crashed into another vehicle, claiming a person’s and a dog’s life.
NBC-2 said this fatal wreck took place Wednesday when the driver of the SUV went into eastbound Colonial Boulevard along Treeline Avenue. The force of this crash also caused a sign to come tumbling down.
The driver and dog from the other vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger from that car – a child – survived the collision. It is unclear, however, if the kid was hurt.
The SUV driver was hospitalized for serious, life-threatening injuries.
Impairment was ruled out as a contributing factor to this crash.
Updates will be posted should they become available.
