Driver fails to maintain lane, causes injury multi-auto crash in Osceola Co.
OSCEOLA COUNTY, FL – A Chevy Silverado driver failed to maintain control of their truck, leading to a crash with two other vehicles that killed a man and woman from Wisconsin Tuesday.
Click Orlando said this collision happened before 12:30 p.m. on State Road 60 when the Chevy Silverado truck driver going west veered into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with a Honda CRV. A third vehicle, a Lexus, tried to avoid this initial collision but ended up striking the Honda and then a guardrail along the shoulder.
As a result, the Honda driver, a 68-year-old man, and one of his passengers, a 65-year-old man from Madison, Wisconsin, succumbed to fatal wounds. Troopers confirmed the 65-year-old woman died at the scene, while the 68-year-old man was rushed to a hospital, where he passed away.
The third occupant of the Honda, an 84-year-old woman from Largo, Wisconsin, suffered serious wounds. A passenger from the Chevy Silverado, a 77-year-old woman, also sustained serious lacerations.
The driver of the Chevy, a 45-year-old man, and an additional passenger, a 36-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries. The Lexus driver, a 19-year-old woman (the sole occupant), also sustained minor wounds.
Florida Highway Patrol has not confirmed whether the pickup truck driver will be cited for failing to maintain a lane.
