Driver ignores traffic signal, causing deadly wreck in Miami Gardens
MIAMI GARDENS, FL – A driver of a gray Infinity was said to have ignored a traffic signal when he struck another car, claiming the life of the second motorist, a 21-year-old man, Tuesday.
This collision occurred before 4:15 a.m. at the Northwest 183rd Street and 22nd Avenue intersection, according to NBC Miami.
Police said the Infinity driver was going south on NW 22nd Ave., while the second driver (operating an orange Ford Taurus) was west on NW 183rd St. Officers revealed that after both vehicles made contact, the Infinity had then slammed into a bus stop, injuring themself and having to go to the hospital.
The family of the 21-year-old man publicly announced his identity, stating he was Mekhi Hoosein Quiles.
Footage also indicated that the Taurus was left without a front bumper, with a damaged left side and with broken windows, while the Infinity was left with a broken windshield and damage to the front hood.
Officers did not specify whether the Infinity driver will face charges.
