Driver makes turn, fatally hits pedestrian in Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, FL – An SUV driver was pursuing a turn at the southbound State Road 5 and Busch Drive junction and hit a male pedestrian, leading to his death Monday.
First Coast News said this collision happened around 11 p.m. While details are limited, Florida Highway Patrol was unable to avoid hitting the 62-year-old man with her vehicle. As a result, he succumbed to fatal wounds at the scene.
Since 2020, FHP has adopted a policy to not release the names of those who died in a crash. As such, they will not publicly identify the man or the driver.
More details, except for the names, will be provided as it becomes available.
