Driver runs stop sign, later dies after Wimauma crash
WIMAUMA, FL – A Dodge Charger driver was ejected and later died after he failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a Ford F150 Saturday.
The vehicles collided when a Dodge Charger motorist was going north on 7th Street, and the pickup truck driver was traveling east on SR 674, ABC Action News revealed.
The Dodge driver, an unidentified 30-year-old man, and his passenger, a 22-year-old man (both from Ocilla, Georgia) were transported to a hospital. The 22-year-old man suffered serious wounds, and the Dodge driver was later declared dead there.
Troopers said the Ford driver, a 21-year-old man, and his passenger, a 27-year-old man (both Wimauma residents), were hospitalized for minor injuries.
Officials said the deceased driver and the 22-year-old man were not properly restrained, and it appears as though the Ford occupants did wear their seatbelts.
