DUI driver causes Ruskin rollover crash that sends deputy to hospital
RUSKIN, FL – A 47-year-old man, a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputy, had to go to a hospital following a rollover crash caused by a DUI driver Saturday.
The events unfolded around 10:30 p.m., when the deputy, Ivan Clark, traveling on East College Avenue West, was struck by the DUI driver, identified as 25-year-old Uriel Garcia Nestor.
HSCO said Garcia Nestor (driving a gray 2010 Ford F-150) had proceeded through a stop sign, coming from 15th Street Southeast when he collided with Clark. The impact caused Clark’s vehicle to overturn several times, and Clark himself was also thrown from his car.
Upon arrival, Clark was flown via a medical helicopter to Tampa General Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
Florida Highway Patrol, who is taking the lead on this investigation, said Nestor did show signs of intoxication, and his blood alcohol concentration levels were at 0.103 and 0.121.
Authorities did arrest Nestor and said he has been charged with “Driving While License Suspended with Serious Bodily Injury, and DUI with Property Damage.”
