Failure to yield leads to crash that kills motorcyclist in Riverview
RIVERVIEW, FL – A Nissan Frontier driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic Sunday morning in Riverview, resulting in a collision with a motorcycle that fatally injured its rider, a 29-year-old man.
WFLA said the crash happened as the pickup truck exited the Interstate 75 ramp onto Gibsonton Drive and as the motorcycle approached the ramp. The motorcyclist, a Tampa resident, was declared dead at the scene, while the Nissan driver, a 59-year-old woman from Gibsonton, sustained minor wounds.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers joined the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office on the scene, where the northbound lanes of I-75 and the eastbound lanes of Gibsonton were closed to accommodate the accident clearance and the initial investigation.
Officials did not immediately indicate whether the driver of the Nissan Frontier would be charged or cited for their role in the collision.
