Fiery rear-end crash in Palmetto claims life of Ruskin man
PALMETTO, FL – A 35-year-old man died Friday after a car he was driving rear-ended a parked semi-truck on U.S. 41 and caused both vehicles to catch on fire.
Florida Highway Patrol told WFLA that this collision happened before 2:30 a.m. along Piney Point Road. Officials declared the man dead at the scene and said the semi-driver, a 45-year-old Georgia man, was unharmed.
After several hours, fire crews were finally able to extinguish the flames, and any lane closures put into effect were lifted.
While an investigation has been launched, no additional details have been reported.
