Firefighter hospitalized after DUI crash in North Fort Myers
NORTH FORT MYERS, FL – A 43-year-old man who drove without a license and was impaired was arrested after crashing into a firefighter, which sent him to the hospital Sunday.
Florida Highway Patrol told NBC-2 that the 43-year-old man, Herminio Olvera Sanchez, struck the firefighter as he was responding to the scene of a crash that led to a bear’s death (reported around 9 p.m.)
Troopers confirmed that Sanchez was charged with DUI and without driving with a valid license.
First responders did not provide an update on the firefighter’s physical condition.
