Hit-and-run suspect fatally strikes cyclist in Immokalee
IMMOKALEE, FL – Authorities are searching for a driver whose white Chevrolet pickup truck hit and fatally injured a bicyclist before fleeing the scene Sunday.
This collision occurred on Oil Well Road, south of the Ave Maria community and east of State Road 29, according to NBC-2.
Upon arrival, first responders rushed the cyclist — a 64-year-old man from Ave Maria — to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition. Officials said he later succumbed to his injuries.
While the Florida Highway Patrol has started an investigation, they continue to search for the suspect and the fleeing truck, which is said to have sustained damage to its front-right bumper.
This is a developing situation. Updates will be included in this blog as authorities release more information.
