Hit-and-run suspects charged after major injury pedestrian crash in north Tampa

TAMPA, FL – Two people were arrested and charged for their roles in a hit-and-run crash Monday afternoon in north Tampa that left a gas station clerk seriously hurt, reports Patch.

The incident was reported on November 18, shortly after 2:00 p.m., at the Shell gas station at 11302 North Dale Mabry Highway.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, one suspect walked into the business and left without paying for two soda bottles. Shortly after that suspect got back into the passenger seat of a vehicle that was parked out front, the clerk went outside and confronted them. The suspect reportedly held onto the clerk’s arm before pushing away. Officials said the victim fell over and was run over by the vehicle as the other suspect, who was seated behind the wheel, drove away from the scene.

The victim, who was transported to a nearby hospital, has since been listed in stable condition.

Officials confirmed that both hit-and-run suspects have been taken into custody. The suspects face several charges between them, including “leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury” on the driver’s part and “two counts of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm” on the passenger’s part.
