JSO suspect speed caused fatal car wreck with tree
JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) suspects a woman in her 60s was speeding, which ultimately led her to hit a tree, resulting in her death Friday.
This single-vehicle collision happened before 9:30 a.m. on northbound Yellow Bluff Road, News 4 Jax said. Deputies said that prior to the woman hitting the tree, she had drifted off the road, had gone over a ditch, and then drove through a fence before coming to a full stop.
As soon as first responders arrived at the scene, a medical helicopter airlifted the driver, the sole occupant of the car, to the hospital, where she later succumbed to fatal injuries.
