Left-turn crash in Jacksonville claims life of motorcyclist
JACKSONVILLE, FL – A motorcyclist died after he was hit by an SUV driver who turned left from the 8000 block of Collins Road and onto Westport Road Thursday.
The force of the collision led the motorcyclist — a 31-year-old man — to be thrown from his bike and land on the concrete road, First Coast News indicated in a report. First responders provided medical aid to him at the scene and then rushed him to Orange Park Medical Center. There, he succumbed to fatal wounds.
Officials said the driver remained at the scene, and they said the motorist did not exhibit signs of impairment and did not travel at a high rate.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has begun an investigation and has not disclosed other information at this time.
