Male cyclist injured in hit-and-run on Cape Coral Bridge
FORT MYERS, FL – A man riding a bicycle sustained several scratches to his face after he was struck by a driver who fled the scene on the Cape Coral Bridge Saturday.
The impact caused the fender from the suspect’s vehicle, a possible black Lexus R-x 350, to come completely off and the bike to come to rest at the end of the bridge, according to Wink News.
The cyclist, identified as Richard Schafer, was on his way to his girlfriend’s house when this collision occurred. He was found unconscious and was hospitalized as a result.
Schafer appears to be in stable condition. At this time, Florida Highway Patrol has not shared additional details regarding this hit-and-run.
